What Does Real Diversity Look Like?
Diversity is more than skin deep. Diversity is defined as the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders or sexual orientations. This is diversity in theory, but what does this look like in practice? If we closely analyze groups that appear diverse on the outside, we quickly realize that this sense of diversity is often limited to physical appearances related to gender or racial identity. In order to make progress towards a more inclusive world, we must revise our understanding of what diversity really is. Diversity is Acknowledgment. Acknowledgment of our differences and understanding of correlated dynamics.
